Fallen Angel is all but certain to bid for a Group One hat-trick in the BetMGM Sun Chariot Stakes early next month after her heroics at Leopardstown on Saturday.
Karl Burke’s daughter of Too Darn Hot showcased her class and resilience to repel the opposition and follow up her Prix Rothschild success, exorcising the demons of defeat at the hands of Porta Fortuna 12 months ago to go one better this time around in the Matron Stakes.
Although entered in the Prix de l’Opera over 10 furlongs on the same weekend, connections will continue to plot a course at a mile, with only unseasonably quick ground seen as a hindrance to an outing at Newmarket on October 4, where she will bid for a fifth top-level success of her career.
Fallen Angel is a Group One machine.

Richard Brown, racing adviser to owners Wathnan Racing said: “She’s such a classy, tough filly with a great attitude and James (Doyle) gave her a complete peach of a ride, I’m delighted for them both and it was a great result for all the team.
“She’s a four-time Group One winner and in rare company. She’s a star for us and has become a flagbearer this summer and she’s so easy to love, you only have to watch her walk around the paddock to see she’s absolutely gorgeous, then gives her all on the track.
“As long as she’s fine and tells Karl she’s OK she will go for the Sun Chariot, but she won’t run on fast ground again. She doesn’t need it heavy, she just needs a nice racing surface of good or softer and anything quicker we wouldn’t want to be running.
“The slight question would be she didn’t run great in her only other run at Newmarket in the 1000 Guineas but perhaps she hadn’t come to herself then and she’s in top nick now, I wouldn’t be unduly concerned about it.”
Fallen Angel is currently 3-1 favourite for the Sun Chariot with race sponsors BetMGM, while she is a best price of 7-2 in places.
